The article deals with the functions of the minority population in border areas. These minorities have been a potential conflict in the past. Through the last few decades has changed the situation by various forms of cross-border cooperation. This contribution provides some important examples of the role of minorities in Slovenia as a bridge between the neighbouring countries.
