The Foundation for the socioeconomic development of Moroccan (Fhimades) presents today – 13.30 hours, at Hotel Melilla Puerto – the book ‘ the European Union and the Mediterranean: development, trade and the Euro-Mediterranean policy ‘, with the participation of the Chief of the staff of the analysis and forecast of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and cooperation, Eduardo López Busquets. This Act is intended to bring the current reality of the Mediterranean policy of the European Union to the Melilla. For the citizens of Melilla and the neighboring Moroccan region of Nador, the neighbourhood existed long until the European Union speak of it. Almost spontaneously and without almost any official protection, citizens of Melilla and Nador are implementing many years what is now all a European, the neighbourhood policy.
It is true that this neighborhood – like all – creates problems and can be improved in many respects but the existing relations between Spaniards and Moroccans on both sides of this border shows that, despite everything, are beneficial to these citizens; otherwise, simply they wouldn’t. Perhaps that is why, that neighborhood has always lived as something everyday, it was a high degree of ignorance of the European policy of neighborhood and the possibilities offered to neighbouring regions.
