This Conference aims to expose the similarities and differences of the external borders of the EU, as well as to raise the challenges before them that are and the extent they affect the security and opportunities for social and economic development of the countries involved. To this end, participating as speakers experts from Finland, Italy, Poland and Greece, countries which are also external borders of the European Union and that will offer the view that exists in these countries. Melilla, by its unique geographical location, is together with the city of Ceuta is the only external border of the EU and the Maghreb. This strategic location raises a number of peculiarities which must be analyzed and compared with other EU frontiers. As in previous years this Conference will be held in collaboration with the Spanish Institute of strategic studies (IEEE) and the General command of Melilla.
